You Know You’re a Mom When…

Posted by JB on Wednesday Nov 26, 2008

I was putting my son to bed the other night…it was one of those long days where my brain had already turned off and my body was ready for sleep. I robotically went about his night time routine. He was vying for another story, requesting water and roping me in to spend a few more minutes listening to his account of the day. Half paying attention, I pulled up the covers, arranged his stuffed animals just the way he likes them, then started thinking of the many things I still had do before my own head could hit the pillow. Answer e-mails, pay bills, sew a button back on his jacket, make his lunch, complete thank you cards for his sister’s baptism and fill out his school registration. My heart lurched thinking I had missed the deadline. Fully expecting him to answer, I asked my four year old son…”What is the date today!?”

Standing on my Soapbox,

JB
