You Know You’re A Mom When…
Posted by JB on Friday Feb 6, 2009
You know you are a mom when everyone in the house has a cold, cough and feels miserable and you somehow are immune, looking after each of them, comforting them, nursing them back to health… only to get struck by it twice as hard once they are all well.
This afternoon, I told my son I needed to lie down after finally getting the cold he
and his sister have been battling for over a week. Immediately he got his favorite blanket and brought it to me on the couch. He covered me up; making sure every bit of me was under it. Then he patted and rubbed my shoulder giving me the kindest and loving look. I melted for a moment that this little boy had the power, grace and kindness to care for me knowing I was sick. It was a beautiful moment that he topped off like a cherry with a wink and kiss on my nose before he fluttered off to do what little boys do.
It was a moment I will remember forever; it was the sugar-candy-coating of motherhood.
