Christening Gowns Product Review

Posted by JB on Tuesday Feb 24, 2009

A baptism is a magical time in a baby’s life. Regardless of which religious custom one follows, the ceremony, devotion and commitment to the sacrament is both beautiful and significant. The English word “baptism” has been used in reference to any ceremony, trial, or experience by which one is initiated, purified, or given a name.

In the past 12 months, I have attended 6 baptisms and planned one for my second child. All have been special and unique, symbolizing the family, their faith and the love they have for their child. As parents, we want so much to have a memorable and beautiful day and often that begins with dressing our babies in the perfect outfit.

For centuries, handmade lace and antique trims adorned baptismal outfits that were handed down from generation to generation. In more modern times, these significant outfits have been set aside, cared for and saved as keepsakes to remember. Like many mothers, I wanted something completely distinctive and very exceptional.

As I searched online for the right baptismal attire, I came across many different sites with many different options; silk, satin, charmeuse, knit, brocade and taffeta. Some were laced, fringed, sheered, or suckered that had jackets, pantaloons, bonnets, and even booties to match. None caught my eye and made me drool more than those at christeninggowns.com.

Founded in 1984 by designer Roberta Salton and her husband, they produce some of the most beautiful christening gowns available. Each christening gown, dress and accessory is designed using soft 100% cotton, silk and knits fabrics that are embellished with Venice laces, Swiss embroideries, French ribbons and hand-made rosettes or satin buttons, completing the christening look.

These are the crème de la crème of gowns for baby’s important day, and what I love most is that there are so many distinctive styles to choose from; vintage, classic, elegant and opulent, along with twin, newborn and very importantly boys. So often, the boys get forced into stuffy suits and non baby-like clothing. Their designs make boys look cuter than cute and rival any of the fantastic items available for girls.

What I love even more is the hats, headbands, shoes, boots and blankets all made to match with the same care and attention to detail. Along with the most darling knit sweaters, they make the perfect addition to an already stunning ensemble. You can find gowns for boys, after party outfits and unique colors if you’d rather not have white. Easily each item is truly spectacular and fits flawlessly with any ceremony.

Baby Beau and Belle, their sister site, also has a wide array of dresses, jumpsuits, layette gowns and bris sets, perfect for other special occasions such as weddings, showers or a first portrait. With each item hand inspected and made in the USA, it is impossible in my mind to find anything better.

If a christening or baptism is on your calendar, this is the perfect place to find everything you need to make baby look wonderful on their very important day.

Standing on my Soapbox,

JB
