Happy IVGLDSW Day!

Feb 4, 2010

Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman Day, a terrfic motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, totally worn out and screaming ‘WOOO HOOOOO what a ride!’

Take a minute today and enjoy being you.

Standing on my soapbox, JB

Inside every older person is a younger person — wondering what the hell happened.
~ Cora Harvey Armstrong ~

Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies.
~ Unknown~

The hardest years in life are those between ten and seventy.
~ Helen Hayes (at 73)~

I refuse to think of them as chin hair.  I think of them as stray eyebrows.
~ Janette Barber~

Old age ain’t no place for sissies.
~Bette Davis~

Thirty-five is when you finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart.
~ Caryn Leschen ~

If you can’t be a good example ~ then you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.~Catherine~

Behind every successful man is a surprised woman
~Maryon Pearson~

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission.
~Eleanor Roosevelt~

20 Uses for Leftover Turkey

Dec 30, 2009

Shall I admit that 5 days after Christmas we are still eating leftover turkey. Although my kids and husband are happy with loading their plates full of all the fixings still lingering in the fridge, my taste buds are ready for something new. Unfortunately the enormous amount of turkey that fills 3 Tupperware containers beckons [...]

Christmas Shopping Time

Dec 2, 2009

Christmas is most definitely upon us - my son insists we put up the tree this weekend and the radio news reports are all about how busy the malls are. I am not sure about you, but the online shopping thing is really more my style this year, so I thought I would share with [...]

From Frumpy to Fabulous

Nov 26, 2009

Don’t you hate it when you run the grocery store, bolting out of the house just as you are, in mom mode: hair frazzled, clothes askew, and no makeup on. Of course, Murphy’s Law kicks in and you run into your boss, ex-boy-friend or arch nemesis from that group of perfect/pretty moms.
More often than not, [...]

Little Stars Bedtime Cards Review

Nov 17, 2009

A friend of mine who is a child psychologist once told me that boys - like men - like to use as few words as possible whenever communicating. For the last few years my young son has been a bit of a jabber jaw, in fact, I had considered him to be outside the norm [...]

Girl power!
A warm-hearted technician helped the author through a scary rite of passage.
Over the last 10 years, as I journeyed through my thirties, so many ‘marvelous’ things have happened. Grey hair, my metabolism changing from ‘not so great to begin with’ to ‘that of a bag of rocks’, the constant, and I mean [...]
