Bride Wars

Posted by JB on Friday Apr 24, 2009

With wedding season upon us, many of you may be in a wedding, planning one, helping or happily attending one. Weddings are a fantastic time in a person’s life, filled with emotion and sentiment. I’ve never been to a wedding that wasn’t filled with tears, either from joy watching the beautiful bride, or from sorrow at not being able to please her.

Hollywood has once again capitalized on the infamous bride-to-be attitude in the latest DVD release of Bride Wars. Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway play Liv and Emma, stereotypical brides planning their dream wedding. Liv is pushy and showy; Emma is more classic and demure. Best friends since childhood, they become engaged within a few hours of one another.  Together, they plan their respective weddings, to take place at New York’s posh Plaza Hotel. But a clerical error and clash in wedding dates pits the two brides against each other, despite their life-long friendship.

Every bride - past, present and future - cares about her style. Brides, moms, birthday girls—every women has a style and likes to show off that style in the way they dress, the cars they drive and the stationery they use to share life’s big moments. With that in mind, Papershouts.com has partnered with 20th Century Fox to offer Soapbox readers a chance to win some amazing prizes.

One lucky winner will receive a copy of the Bridge Wars video (due to be released on DVD April 28th), plus a $25 Paper Shouts gift certificate. All you have to do is comment here on which character style you relate to more: Emma’s traditional, romantic style or Liv’s couture, “only the best” approach, and let us know which is your favorite card from the papershouts.com Bridal Shouts section.

The winner will be announced May 6th, so check back that day, because that name will then go on to be entered into the Grand Prize draw on the Paper Shouts website. Prizes include movie memorabilia such as the sunglasses worn in the movie by Kate Hudson and a movie one-sheet signed by Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway and the Grand Prize is a great Mexican vacation—6 nights at the CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort and airfare for 2 on AirTran airlines. (This contest applies to US residents only).

I had to think about this one….am I cutting edge or am do I lean on the old tried and true? I would have to say that I am more like Emma. I like to take inspriation from the traditional and romantic when it comes to love and a wedding.

My favorite Papershouts Bridal Shouts card is the Floral Engagement card in Black and White. I think the Black and White is very classy, simple, clean and will bring out the color in the photo.
